Course Calendar and Assessment Information
All meetings, central venue assessments and training courses run by the SNB Branch office are listed on the Education Calendar attached below. The calendar does change throughout the season, so it is important to make sure you are viewing the latest version. Within the calendar the “last updated” date is shown at the top of the page. Updated versions of the Education Calendar are emailed to subscribers of the weekly newsletter on a regular basis. Click here if you would like to subscribe to the newsletter. We will be running some courses over the off-season so refer to the separate calendar for what's on offer. Remember, members must book into the courses via their club's Chief Training Officer.
The BoE recommends all Training Officers conduct a mock assessment of their course candidates prior to their actual assessment. If any Training Officers do not have an endorsed assessor amongst their Club’s education team, they are welcome to contact Assessors from another club to request assistance. A list of endorsed Assessors can be found here.
Central Venue Assessments
Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC), Bronze Medallion and Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ARTC) candidates are assessed at central venue locations throughout the Branch. Bronze Medallion assessments are run in two parts across two dates – Dry followed by Wet.
Central Venue assessment guidelines and Candidate Booking guidelines for SRC & Bronze Medallion are attached below. The Branch recommends all Bronze & SRC Training Officers become familiar with these guidelines and review them at the start of each training course.
Although not as strictly organised, the Branch recommends that Clubs work together when conducting IRB Assessments. This makes the best use of our IRB Assessors time and also works towards ensuring continued consistency of assessing across the Branch. Upcoming IRB Assessments are announced via the Week in Review newsletter and added to the Education Calendar throughout the season.
Assessor requirements for IRB assessments are as follows:
- Minimum of 2 Assessors who have not been involved in the training. They can be from the same Club as the candidates.
SM IRB Driver
- Minimum of 2 Assessors, not involved in the training.
- At least 1 Assessor must be from a different Club from the candidates.
