Silver Medallion Advanced Emergency Care
Award Summary:
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to manage multifaceted emergencies in an advanced manner.

Award:
On successful completion the participants will receive the SLSA Silver Medallion Advanced Emergency Care.
Course content:
- Priority management
- Identifying strategies
- Prioritising, identifying and selecting strategies
- Problem solving, planning, choosing strategies
- Scenarios (casualty simulation)
- Maintaining effective communication
Pre-requisites:
- Candidates must be a minimum of 17 years of age on the date of the final assessment
- Candidates must hold all of the following SLSA awards:
- SLSA Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate
- SLSA Spinal Management Certificate
- Senior First Aid Certificate (Apply first aid)
- Candidates hold one of the following units of competency:
- HLTCPR201A Perform CPR
- HLTFA201A Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTFA301B Apply first aid
Course Duration:
The duration of the course is dependent on the experience and skills of the participants, but is usually 4 – 6 hours.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Assessment:
Candidates will be required to demonstrate competency in all elements in the workplace. They will be required to complete activities that may include oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations of skills and performing scenarios.
Proficiency:
This award does not require a yearly proficiency, however to remain current all pre-requisite awards must remain proficient.

Silver Medallion Advanced Emergency Care courses are Branch facilitated and are run by SLSNSW endorsed facilitators.
