Radio Operator Certificate
Award Summary:
The aim of this course is to provide members with knowledge and skills to perform basic radio communications.

There are no units of competency currently aligned with this award.
Award:
On successful completion the participants will receive the SLSA Radio Operator Certificate.
Course content:
- Use communication systems and equipment
- Transmit and receive communications
- Maintain communications equipment
Pre-requisites:
- Candidates must be a minimum of 13 years of age on the date of the final assessment
Course Duration:
The duration of the Radio Operator Certificate course is approximately 6-8 hours. This course includes specific regional and local radio operations, frequencies, support groups and emergency protocols.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Assessment:
Candidates will be required to demonstrate competency in all elements in the workplace. They will be required to complete activities that may include oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations of skills and performing scenarios.
Proficiency:
For this award to remain current, candidates must perform a proficiency check prior to 31st December each year.
Training/assessing:
Trainers and assessors for this award must be endorsed to train/assess Radio or Bronze Medallion.
