What is the Board of Surf Sports?

The Board of Surf Sports (BoSS) is made up of accredited officials from all SLSSNB clubs. Each BoSS member gets one vote at meetings and help decide the future direction of surf sports within our Branch.

All decisions regarding surf sports competition and the direction in which we choose to take start with the monthly BoSS meeting chaired by the Director of Surf Sports. It is at these meetings that clubs and individuals are able to voice their opinions and discuss best practices for future carnivals, events and procedures.

All BoSS members have the opportunity to be heard and have input into the future of surf sports on the northern beaches. Opportunities exist for any member to take on higher roles with the Board and these positions are voted upon at the May BoSS meeting every year (except for the Director role which is voted for at the Board of Management May meeting every second year – it is a two year term). Nominations are called for at the April meeting.

Application forms to join or renew their membership with the SLSSN BoSS are available after the Surf Sports Calendar has been decided upon. The forms are essential for us to have the members’ most up to date contact details and also contain a section on the members’ availability to officiate at carnivals for the season. This availability form allows us to start the procedure of officials’ appointments for each carnival.
