SNB Athletes Dominate State Team Selections
Half the 2019 NSW State team selected to compete in the 2019 Interstate Championships in January is made up of Sydney Northern Beaches athletes. 12 SNB competitors have been picked for the Open and Youth team, which is looking to defend their title at Newport Beach.
This follows on from the selection of 7 young SNB athletes in the NSW Youth Pathway Cup squad, who will compete at the same event in January. Our Interbranch Assistant Coach Michael Gedz will also join the team’s coaching ranks.
This is one of the strongest results for the Branch for some time, and highlights the benefits of the various surf sports programs run within the Branch.
High Performance 2018-2019
SLSSNB actively works on the evolution of a high-performance pathway in surf sports for talented athletes aspiring to represent the Branch, State and/or Australia.
A High Performance squad has been selected to form the base of the SNB Interbranch squad, who will represent the Branch at the SLSNSW Interbranch Championships.
Selection of Teams
The pathway to the NSW Surf Life Saving team for the Interstate championships, begins with selection in the Interbranch team. Both the Interbranch and Interstate championships are run in the same format, so state selectors watch the Interbranch championships closely to help them with their selections for the state team.
